KANTIKA

Musical summary of this child choir’s development. Religious and profane music, recently composed works and folklore from the five continents are mixed with the collaboration of the pianist Itziar Bilbao. The blue disc (CD) includes 21 pieces and the red disc (DVD) 12 of the CD themes recorded in different locations of Leioa.

Leioa Kantika Korala

It originated in 2001 from Leioa Municipal Conservatory, on the initiative of its principal, Basilio Astulez. Composed by 55 boys and girls from 10 to 17 years old, all of them pupils of the Centre, its main purpose is to educate them in the enjoyment of choral music and to broaden their musical education, covering for it the amplest variety and richness of styles and repertoires. From its inception it has taken part in a large number of choral events and festivals both in Spain and abroad, sharing the stage with leading soloists and conductors

"Si el disco es bueno de por sí, el DVD con doce piezas nos hace apreciar aun más la labor realizada por Astulez, que, por cierto, es el talludito rapado que aparece entre los coristas como uno más en algunas canciones. El desenfadado DVD apto para todo tipo de público, difiere de cualquier otro espectáculo coral ad hoc, pues la realización de Alberto Díaz huye del estatismo en la medida de lo posible, y las ingeniosas e ingenuas coreografías animan cada actuación. Las imágenes, con continuos cambios de vestuario y rodadas en bellas localizaciones de Leioa, destilan sinceridad y buen rollito. Ojalá este grupo triunfe y su ejemplo se extienda con fuerza" (José Velasco DIVERDI)
